Valencia vs California High
Lady Vikings win their first game in 10 innings, 5-4 on 4/9/09 against California of Whittier.
Carly Mortensen took to the mound and in the top of the first inning with a runner on 1st, Amy Moore sent a bullet down to 2nd throwing the runner out. The inning was ended on a strikeout. Bottom of the 1st the inning, a homerun started the inning by Tori Balta. Megan Foglesong walked, but was caught stealing 2nd. Both Bethany Kemp and Caitlin Rooney walked. Amy Moore grounded out but was able to score Kemp. In the 3rd, Foglesong had a triple. 4th inning, Annie Dreher had a single to center. 5th inning Balta singled followed by a walk by Lauren Boser. Foglesong loaded the bases when she was hit by a pitch. Bethany Kemp hit a fly to left field which allowed Balta to score. 6th inning, Moore had a single to center. Dreher bunted safe. Lindsay Clark had a single to center. In the top of the 7th inning with a runner on 2nd, With the score tied 1-1, Sarah Enriquez took to the mound. Bottom of the 7th, Foglesong had a single to right. In the 8th, Kemp started the inning off at 2nd. Rooney had a sacrifice bunt advancing Kemp to 3rd. Dreher came to the plate and singled to center, scoring Kemp. Justine Sibthorp singled to left advancing Dreher to 2nd. Shannon Fitzgerald singled to left, loading the bases. The Vikings were unable to capitalize. In the bottom of the 9th inning, Balta started at 2nd. Lauren Boser put down a sacrifice bunt advancing Balta to 3rd. Foglesong singled to center scoring Balta. 10th inning, Missy Fundora was at 3rd. Dreher hit a shot scoring Fundora to win the game Mortensen with 5 strikeouts in 6 innings, Enriquez with 2 strikeout in 4 innings.
