Camarillo Double Header
The lady Vikings came out strong in their first non-league games of the season.
Game scores are 14-0 in the first game and 2-1 in the second. We are 2-0 going in to Bullhead City.In the first game it was a slugfest for the Vikings.
In the 1st inning Megan Fogelsong had a leadoff walk, Madison Shipman singled to center which drove Fogelsong home. With Shipman on 1st Kaitlin Rooney stepped up to the plate and doubled to center which brought Shipman home.
In the 2nd inning Bethany Kemp led off the inning with a single to center and advanced to second base on a bunt by Tori Balta. Shannon Fitzgerald walked. Fogelsong came to the plate and hit a single to center scoring Balta and Fitzgerald. 3rd inning Amy Moore had a double with a hard shot down the third base line. In the 4th inning Lauren Boser singled to left, followed by a triple from Shipman scoring pinch runner Justine Sibthorp. 5th inning, Bethany Kemp doubled with a deep shot to left center followed by a single from Balta and Fitzgerald scoring Kemp. Fogelsong again at the plate drove in Balta with another double. 6th inning Shipman again at the plate singled followed by Annie Dreher who advanced to first after being hit by a pitch. Rooney once again followed up with a double to center and drove in Shipman. Moore came to the plate and grounded out which scored Dreher. Kemp once again doubled to left scoring Rooney. Lindsay Clark singled while Kemp scored. Jessica Smith having her first at bat of the game had a single to center, scoring Clark. Smith stole 2nd followed by another single by Fogelsong. Shipman once again came to the plate with a double to right center, scoring both Smith and Fogelsong. On the mound for the Vikings was Sarah Enriquez who threw a great game having 9 strikeouts and not allowing any runs.
Final score was 14-0
In the Vikings second game the bats were just as active, however Camarillo seemed to be in much better position to field the ball.
Shipman singled in the 1st but was left stranded on base. In the 3rd inning Balta singled followed by a walk by Fogelsong. Once again, both runners were left stranded on base. 4th inning Dreher drew a walk. Pinch runner Elena Dickson scored on a wild pitch. Kemp walked followed by a single by Moore. 5th inning Boser doubled followed by another double by Shipman which scored Boser which proved to be the winning run.
On the mound for the Vikings was Carly Mortensen who had 7 strikeouts and threw a great game as well.
Final score 2-1.
