TOC Game 2 vs Splendora

Valencia defeated Splendora of Texas (Record coming in to game 13-1): score 5-0
Splendora had a lead-off single in the bottom of the 2nd and moved the runner over to 2nd base off a bunt.  Moore back-doored a pick off to Garza at 2nd to end their scoring threat.  With the game tied at goose eggs entering the 3rd inning, Garza led the inning with a walk.  She advanced to 2nd off the sac bunt from Foglesong and then daringly stole 3rd.  Bernardino then singled and stole 2nd base to put 2 girls on the bases for a 2-run single by Moore.  Then in the 5th, with 2 runners on base, Spigner knocked a base hit to score 1, but the Vikings weren’t done.  Shipman had her 2nd hit of the contest, knocking in a pair of RBIs, to bring the score to 5.  Spigner grooved from the mound, striking out 8, walking just 2 batters, and giving up a meager 2 hits.  This was her first high school career shutout.
